Zombies attack!!

i had a zombie apocalyptic dream last night. in fact, it would have made quite the cinema going experience. it was my family surviving waves of zombies (think l4d2). i don't remember the details of the backstory, which all i know included a swamp and dead girl at the bottom of said swamp. we were at our house (not my actual house tho...just some dream house) and these infected mice would come into the house to spread the infection. so it was a really good thing that my family has soo many cats because they were catching them and saving us from infection. this gave us the chance to pack everything we needed - from blankets to food - and fill up our minivan (which we don't have in real life) and drive to a secluded house in the woods far, far away from civilization and zombies. however, we realized that we forgot two of our eldest cats behind so we had to go back which was incredibly dangerous because then the zombies would have the opportunity to follow us; still, i had to go back for them. so we retrieve them and begin driving out to the woods. driving on the roads and highways was like a racing game, dodging this way and that way. i was weaving between zombies and the debris of our fallen world. we made it to the house and lock ourselves in with all of our equipment and animals. we are in there playing games to keep entertained because we were there for at the very least a year. then infection reaches us. at first, our cats started catching mice and we knew that it was on its way. so i start caulking around the doors, windows, and any open crack to try to shield us. nevertheless, our cats begin to become infected and so i put them into locked kennels because i just don't have the heart to kill them like i know i should. eventually my cats are all infected in their cages, my father dies, my sister and i are killed, and only my mother survives by narrowly escaping to the car and driving away as fast as possible. the end.

A Scorpion just can't help it.

One day, a scorpion looked around and decided that he wanted a change. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river. The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. "Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?" But knowing all about scorpians, the frog said, "If I let you on my back, you will sting me and kill me!" The scorpian argued, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!" Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. "Alright then...how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN sting me & kill me?" said the frog. "Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!" So the frog agreed to take the scorpian across the river. The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, his sharp claws sticking into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current. Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs. "You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?" The scorpion shrugged, "I could not help myself. I'm a scorpian, it is my nature." Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.

Dear Sema

I came across this on the internet; it's for you Sema ---

*Ode To Boys*
We like them, but do they like us?
The ones we do never fuss
They never stop in and we wonder why
We stress, we bitch, we sometimes cry.
"Guys are assholes!" we always say.
Yet their stupid games we always play.
One day this, one day that.
So we turn to food which makes us fat
Then they complain we're putting on weight
Defining to us why we never date.
They're the reason, those stupid fucks,
Making us believe that college life sucks.
SCREW THEM ALL, LET'S GRAB A BEER!
We've got our friends, they're all here.
Cheers to the girls, fuck the guys.
We're sick of their shit and stupid ass lies.
We don't need them, no not us.
Good for a scam but never to trust.
So here's what to do:Together we stand.
We'll party it up with beers in each hand.
Alone in our beds of course it might end,
But we don't get dumped and we still have our FRIENDS!

Jealousy kills

And oft, my jealousy shapes faults that are not.
~William Shakespeare

More men die of jealousy than of cancer.
~Joseph P. Kennedy

Jealousy in romance is like salt in food. A little can enhance the savor, but too much can spoil the pleasure and, under certain circumstances, can be life-threatening.
~Maya Angelou

Jealousy is the great exaggerator.

The bigger the brow the better

So, I am obsessed with thick eyebrows. When I went home to NY for the break the biggest difference I was struck by was the style which women groomed their brows. Most American women pluck and pluck away at their eyebrows. Don't they know they are meant to frame and enhance your eyes and overall face. Personally, I have had such terrible experiences in the States with waxing. It's really a shame. In fact, I am still growing my eyebrows out from the Superdorm lady's hack job on my face. Regardless, I am head-over-heels in love with threading which, if I remember correctly, is thought to have originated in Turkiye. Turkish women on the other hand appreciate a full brow and don't fight their natural shape.

I completely agree with the selection above, each is a perfect example of how thicker just means more beautiful. Of course, Brooke Shields is included because she is the Queen of the 'Big Brow."

When it comes to brows her's are borderline godly and, most definitely, deserving of more photos so here they are:

I would, however, add Camilla Belle. I would call her the Reigning Princess of the "Big Brow," wouldn't you? Take a look for yourself:

Remember that thick, big eyebrows are not the same as unkept and messy brows. This next girl, whoever she is, needs to get that memo.

Frustration

Erkeklar are soooooo FRUSTRATING!!!

I don't think I need to say anything more than that.

I am, also, not a very patient person so we will see how far my tolerance can stretches before I just don't give a fuck.

This FML moment brought to you by Fmylife.com makes me feel a shit load better tho; so, maybe it will do the same for you:

Happy National Peanut Butter Lovers' Day & National Pig Day!

MARCH 1st

is

National Peanut Butter Lovers' Day

&&

National Pig Day

both of which are greatly missed by nearly every american over here in turkey. i am an exception, of course, being that i am, firstly, a veggie and, secondly, smart enough to return to istanbul with my very own giant sized jar of american style peanut butter. but still how weird is it that the holidays for appreciating both of these much missed treats fall on the same day...?

i think i will celebrate by making delicious pb&j sandwiches tomorrow. hells yaa.

Goodbye

Life is hard.

Decisions and distance are hard, too.

Life is short.

I will not live in regret.

I will never forget how I love you even as we say goodbye.

I made my choice and I stand by it.

Goodbye.

Missed Connection

After a roughly 6-hr flight from JFK to London Heathrow I grabbed my bags and ran off the plane. I literally ran trying to catch my flight to Istanbul. I should have had an hour layover but since the original flight was delayed 20 minutes I was fucked. I am soo pissed about it but what can I do?! Nothing. Well, nothing but sit. The timing is awful, as well. Why aren't people up at 6:26 am in NY, hmm?? The bittersweet anxiety is drawn out even longer now. I miss Pinar Demir...

Valentine's 2010

Here's a special Valentine's post for ya.

First, a shout out: Sema <3 take a look @ this pic! It seemed like something you would be interested in seeing. It's from postsecret.com, which posts new anonymous postcards sent in every Sunday. I love the site and check it every week!

Second, my theory about Turkish male-female relationships. The men are capable of being such pigs that the women must behave as cold bitches just to stop their disgusting savageness. Then they sit around complaining and justifying their behavior by blaming the women's frigidness.

FUCK this cycle. Damn it to Valentine's Hell!

This is Hrithik Roshan and he is hot. Hot!

Tamam mı? Tamam.

He's a Bollywood star that is seriously handsome. I really like his alluring skin, beautiful eyes, and dark hair. I have really started to appreciate this kind of man lately. I used to only like light features, like red or blond hair but darker is damn sexy. It definitely my time in Turkey taking its toll, but I don't mind it =P

However, the best part about Hrithik is his uniqueness and confidence. Took a close look at the top picture again. If you concentrate on the lower left side corner you will see that he has 2 thumbs. He could remove the extra one but he doesn't. It's like he accepts himself just the way God created him and I think that's the hottest thing possible.

Rollerblading dream

I had a weird ass dream last night.

I was rollerblading around a huge urban city. At first I was falling all over the place. But then, later on, I was officially good. Also, there was this kid that would skate with me. I don't remember what he looked like exactly. He was tall and had long hair. I get the feeling he was foreign, too. We had each other's backs. We skated the city blocks together but we skated at different paces. He was so much quicker than I was especially when I was stunt skating and DOIN' FLIPS N' SHIT. Still he waited at the end of each block. We were having so much fun that we decided to continue exploring and skating rather than going back to the dorm. I followed him into a building and up a set of stairs that I found out led to a dock and when I got to the top he was gone.
I looked for him and waited but he was completely GONE!

What the hell does this mean?

Winter Lavender

Let me start with a few points: first, I know I keep talking about nail polish; second, I know it's not the most fascinating thing; and third, I know I said I was looking for a green. I bought a dark - nearly black - green and wore it for a day but it was a flop. Despite all of this, I want to show you my newest nail color. I bought it yesterday and love wearing it thus far. It's the most interesting crosses between brown and purple...in fact, I would even venture as far as saying it's BURPLE!! When it's beside brown it picks up the palette and everybody claims it's brown but when it's besides purple and green it looks like a dull lavender. When left to my own accord I stick with earth tones and natural hues in my wardrobe so these nails let me mix in the flowery, girly colors (which I have been searching through without feeling out of comfort range which is one the main reasons I change colors as often as I do). It's beautiful and dull. Actually, it's beautiful in its dullness and I would definitely name it "Winter Lavender". I'm going to look for more colors in the palette, too. Maybe the "Winter Tulip" or "Winter Daffodil" is waiting out there. Ya think?

Btw, the polish is OPI Over the Taupe.

"The Great Scout and Cathouse Thursday"

I once took a film class about Western films called "Cowboys and Calamity Jane." When I was flipping through the channels at home today I came across the movie "The Great Scout and Cathouse Thursday." It's fantastically simple satire. Check it out...especially if you're a "Blazing Saddle" fan!

Green please

I found the image above from a google search on "green nail polish" because I have been dying to find the perfect shade of green for my nails. I tried and failed once already, but still I vow to trudge on looking all over God's green Earth in pursuit of the perfect shade of green. I just painted my nails green yesterday morning actually (see photo). However, I wanted to switch after only a few hours FML. The perfect shimmer-less olive-dark green color is out there (kinda like "Polished Princess" by Barielle on the far right side) and I'm going to find that son-of-a-bitch.

My license arrived biatch

I turned 21 in a sleeper cab of the Oriental Express traveling from Bucharest, Romania back to Istanbul, Turkey during the 2nd Bayram of Fall '09. I love being able to say that; it just sounds so damn amazing. In America your 21stBirthday is the most important birthday by far. I mean we have the ridiculously high drinking age of 21 unlike the rest of the world. At first I was bummed about missing my big day by spending it in Turkey because I was missing home terribly. All-in-all, my 21st was awesome but let's keep on topic with this post....
When I came back from Turkey I had to go to the DMV to renew my license, which cost a whopping $80 because the fees increased just in time for my birthday. So last Monday my Mother paid out the ass for me and I took another picture. They gave me an interim license so I could drive and since that did not have a photo I have been using my passport to go to the bars. I have great news!! The lady said it would take 2-3 weeks to receive my unrestricted license in the mail but I opened it up today. Hell yaa biatches!

Beginning?

The name is Sydney. I am a Puerto Rican-American studying and living the best I can in an incredible, beautiful world. However, if you are finding yourself on this page I hope this isn't news to you. But still I don't know where to begin my blogging?? I don't think I can write my thoughts directly onto paper (or more appropriately the computer screen) because I'm reluctant to be that open of a person. So, at the very best it can take a while to translate them satisfactorily and until then I am going to try...
